Julia Coello Gallagher, originally from Spain and Venezuela, moved to America years ago with degrees in Visual Arts and Interior Design from Caracas, Venezuela- getting another degree from NYIT, School of Architecture and Design in New York.
She embarked upon the painting she abandoned years ago while working in Interior Design, now using the canvas as an expression of nature in all its forms. She is inspired by the German and American Abstract-Expressionists.
The artist believes that Abstract-Expressionism dwarfs the capacity for words to capture the inherent nature of her subjects. The artist says that “Each work is created by allowing my thinking and rationality to be suspended and subordinated to my emotional expressivity.”
