Caroline McCloud Self is a southern, contemporary, expressionist, abstract artist, who is inspired by the harmony and juxtaposition of color and texture. Her paintings layer mystery with the poetry of nature and the joy of beauty to evoke an emotion of spirit.
Born in North Carolina, Caroline’s life journey has taken her through several states and cities. Her paintings reflect various life experiences, embracing the qualities of movement, experimentation and change.
Before moving back to the Charleston, SC area, she was the Curator of Art Education at the Lyndon House Arts Center in Athens, GA. She then spent a year as the Artist-In-Residence for the City of North Charleston. She makes her home in Summerville with her husband Ahren.
Caroline’s paintings have found homes from coast to coast, and have been juried into several exhibitions including the Artist-In-Embassy program in Bern, Switzerland, where her painting “B Street” is currently on exhibition. Her paintings have won best in show, best abstract and purchase awards.
